ABOUT

Every so often, a new voice cuts through the noise, and 17-year old singer-songwriter Abby Borgatti’s is the latest. With her debut single “Almost Do,” the Toronto-based artist arrives as a breath of fresh air in the pop landscape. Stepping on the scene, Abby brings a quiet magnetism to her work that feels tailor-made for a generation hungry for honesty, pairing her gen-Z fluency with deeply sincere songwriting instincts.

Rooted in the clarity of singer-songwriter pop and layered with the emotional shades of acoustic folk, Abby's music is intimate, thoughtful, and undeniably personal. Influenced by artists like Gracie Abrams and Lizzy McAlpine, she writes with a growing confidence, letting her lyricism take the lead.

“I put a lot of care into my music. I want to make sure I’m always telling the story,” she explains. “The meaning is what I always value and hope stands out the most in my music.”

As her first official release, "Almost Do" is a demonstration of that dedication to balancing melody and story. Building from an acoustic foundation, the track swells in the chorus, invoking the spirit of honest auteurs like Jensen McRae coupled with the vocal boldness of Olivia Rodrigo. Lyrical vulnerability collides with atmospheric production, and the result sweeps the listener into her world.

Songwriting and performance go hand and hand for the young artist, with one constantly fueling the other. Whether behind a piano or with a guitar in hand, Abby lights up when she connects with an audience, a skill she honed as a member of Canada’s beloved Mini Pop Kids. While currently navigating her own transition into young adulthood, Abby has been immersed in the professional world of music and performance since age 11, touring across North America and learning firsthand what it means to command a stage.

"Performing live is such a different energy to feed off of,” she confirms. “It all kind of melts away, because you just have to focus on the task at hand. The energy you can create in a venue isn’t comparable to anything else. It’s sacred, and it can’t be replicated."

With tangible experience under her belt but a voice all her own, Abby Borgatti is an exciting addition to today’s class of compelling vocalists. With a heartfelt catalogue already beginning to take shape, her debut marks the start of something every generation needs; a body of work built on honesty, care, and the joy of being heard.
